I’m a big proponent of giving my business to the local businesses and am always thrilled to find a good one just a few minutes from home.
Today, I visited Allure Nails, for the very first time and had a manicure, using the dipping powder technique and a regular pedicure. In case you’re not familiar with dipping powder, it’s relatively new. I’ve been having manicures using it for a little over a year. It’s actually done by first painting your bare nails with a clear base and then the wet nails are dipped into a little pot of powdered color. The process is repeated 2 or 3 times and then covered in a clear glossy topcoat. No time under a UV light is required and by the time the manicure is complete, your nails are rock hard, very shiny and look perfect. The manicure lasts a long time. The last time I had a manicure like this was about 6-7 weeks ago. My nails weren’t chipped or cracked but there was too much of my bare natural exposed because my nails had grown in the time.
I like it much better than gel nails and certainly 100x better than just plain nail polish. I wash a lot of dishes and garden so I want a polish that is going to hold up well for a long time.
This particular salon uses the Nugenesis brand of powder. In the past I’ve gone to salons that use the SNS color. I think SNS was the first company to make the product.
The cost was $40, which included removing the remnants of my last dipping powder manicure from almost 2 months ago.
For my pedicure I simply had them finish with regular nail polish which seems to last for months.
A young man named Minh took care of both my manicure and my pedicure. He did an excellent job. He’s very quiet but very detail oriented and conscientious. When I told him he did an excellent job, he smiled proudly.
As I was getting my pedicure, the woman in the next chair, also a local, told me she had been coming to this salon for around 10 years. It was located someplace else in Naples before this and had only relocated here about a year ago.
I overheard a number of other conversations between clients and manicurists and it’s apparent that there are a number of regular customers and they are all on a first name basis.
It is staffed by the female owner, her sister and today I saw two other manicurists. Everyone was very friendly and nice.
It’s a very clean salon. They change the plastic liner in the pedicure tub for every customer. It’s bright and cheerful.
I also noticed that everyone who works there is attractive and nicely dressed.
The salon also offers other services like waxing, eyebrow tinting, eyelash extensions, and permanent makeup.
The prices appear to be on par for this area.
I will definitely be returning and highly recommend this salon for your next mani-pedi or other service.
